We are delighted to welcome our latest internship at Unmanned Survey Solutions, Sebastien Tange. Sebastien is a French student who will be working with the other Hydrographic Surveyors at USS for 4-weeks from January 2019.
He is a 21-year-old Apprentice Engineer with EDF energy in Graveline, France and who also studies Engineering at University in Lille. Over the next 4-weeks, he will be working on the assembly of the new Inception MK2 USV’s.
Sebastien applied to come to the UK when he passed a language test at University. He chose USS as he wanted to work for a small organisation that was different from the sizeable Nuclear Power Plant factory of over 2000 people.
At USS he is gaining real hands-on experience working directly with our Chief Technician Adam. He is putting the electrics, cabling and circuit boards on the Inception Mark 1 and will be testing his work out on the water once this is complete. He is then moving on to working on the Mark 2 after testing is complete.
The most exciting thing he has come across so far is designing and printing a boat using 3D laser printing. In France, this technology is primarily used in schools, so it is fascinating for him to see it used in this way. Living in Cornwall and working by the sea reminds him of the south of France, though the weather is not as hot! It’s good to have you on board Sebastien.
